Overview ACTS-NT (tm) is a program for Windows NT that allows you to set the internal clock of your computer with accurracy of about a second, using either the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technolog) ACTS (Automatic Computer Time Service) time source or the USNO (United States Naval Observatory) time source. It dials the times services with a modem, receives the current time, and uses that time to set your computer's time. There are programs similar to ACTS-NT for Windows 3.1 and DOS, but these will not work under Windows NT, because Windows NT requires a program to have the SetSystemTime privilege in order to set the internal clock, and programs do not have this privilege by default. Copyright ACTS-NT (tm) is Copyright (c) 1994 Frank F Ramos, All Rights Reserved. Send problem reports and comments to 72202.2574@compuserve.com. License/Registration ACTS-NT is Shareware. You may try it for a period of 21 days. After this trial period, you must either pay a $10 registration fee or delete ACTS-NT from your computer. The preferred way to register is via Compuserve (GO SWREG). See the ACTS-NT online help for other ways to register and complete license/registration details. Installation/Uninstallation To install ACTS-NT, place ACTSNT.EXE and ACTSNT.HLP together in any directory, then run ACTSNT.EXE. ACTSNT.HLP contains details on how to use ACTS-NT, including modem setup. Note that users who will be running ACTSNT.EXE must have the SetSystemTime right. Members of the Administrators and Power Users groups have this right by default. You can assign this right to other users using the User Manager (User Rights option under the Policies menu). The first time ACTSNT.EXE is run, it will create a registry entry with key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FrankRamosShareware\ACTS-NT. ACTS-NT does not modify any other files on your computer. To uninstall ACTS-NT, just delete ACTSNT.EXE, ACTSNT.HLP and registry entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FrankRamosShareware\ACTS-NT.
